Gaye Brown
Employee of the Month for June

Monroe linemen may gratefully refer to her as “Mom,” and members of the office staff call her a lifesaver, but now Gaye Brown has another title to answer to: the PUD’s June Employee of the Month.

“She has achieved outstanding respect and confidence from all employees,” says one Monroe staff member. “We love her as a person and love her as our boss. I think it is because she is so genuine and honest. She takes good care of all of us.”

Gaye started her career at the PUD on July 1, 1991, as an Energy Conservation Specialist in the Energy Conservation Department. In 1992, she became an Energy Conservation Analyst. In 1993, she moved to Customer Service as an Office Support Specialist/Utility Clerk and was working as a Customer Service Representative by the end of that year.

In 1994, Gaye was promoted to Customer Engineer in the Everett Customer Engineering Department. In 1998, her title changed to Designer and later that year, she was promoted to Senior Designer. In 2003, she transferred to the Monroe office. In 2008, Gaye was again promoted, this time to Distribution Service Manager of the South County Office. In 2010, she transferred to the Monroe office.

Gaye’s diverse work experience gave her all the skills to keep the Monroe office running smoothly. But what makes Gaye a true success is how she goes about that business.

“Gaye ensures the office, work environment and employees are taken care of in every way,” says one staff member. “She communicates so well, helping customers, engineers, line workers and customer service staff in every way possible. She makes sure that everything and everyone are taken good care of.”

And Gaye’s not just caring. She cares about getting things right, a staff member said. “She will tell us the truth if she does not have an answer – but she will make sure she gets the answer for us. She’s good with providing instruction.”

In her spare time, Gaye enjoys gardening, reading, entertaining, and spending time with family and friends.

Congratulations, Gaye, on being named the June Employee of the Month!
